<h1>Cash Maxi Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)</h1>
<p>Most investors use the full £7,000 annual investment limit of a Maxi ISA to invest
solely in the Stocks and Shares element of the Maxi ISA. However, the cash element of a
Maxi Individual Savings Accounts (ISA) can be used to save a maximum of £3,000 per
financial year (from 1 April to the 31 March of the following year).</p>
<p>So long as the money remains in the ISA, the interest on that money is not taxed. For
anyone who pays tax in the United Kingdom, a Cash Maxi-ISA is a good place to place
savings. Many Cash Maxi ISAs offer instant access to the money, and keeping the money in
cash is usually a better short term investment than putting the money into stocks and
shares.</p>
<p>The disadvantage of a Cash Maxi ISA when compared to a normal bank or building society
savings account is that there are limitations that make it unsuitable to keep paying money
in and withdrawing it again; you cannot pay in more than £3,000 in one financial year,
regardless of what the balance in the account is.</p>
<p><font color="#FF0000">Unlike Mini ISAs, the three elements of a Maxi ISA (Cash, Stocks
and Shares, Life Insurance) must all be purchased through the same ISA provider.</font></p>
<p>Things to look for when selecting a Cash Maxi ISA:
<ul>
<li>Companies will often boost the interest rate by adding on bonus interest.</li>
<li>Some Cash Maxi ISAs will only pay the highest rate of interest if larger amounts are
invested.</li>
<li>You can open a new Cash Maxi ISA each financial year, or keep paying into an existing
Cash Maxi ISA. The important thing to remember is that you can only pay into a single Cash
Maxi ISA in a particular financial year.</li>
<li>If you are prepared to invest the money for a fixed term (such as one year) then
interest rates are often higher.</li>
<li>Cash Maxi ISAs offered by online/telephone banking operations often attract marginally
higher rates of interest.</li>
<li>It is possible to move Cash Maxi ISAs between institutions, however, some institutions
may make a charge for this facility. This is worth bearing in mind as institutions often
cut their interest rates during the year.</li>
<li>Check that they also offer suitable Stocks and Shares and Life Insurance elements of a
Maxi ISA if you want to invest in these as well.</li>
